The Wall Flower

A lovely cactus stood out on the prairie where the wild grass and beautiful flowers grew. She watched as the other flowers bloomed red, purple and gold, in spring and she wandered at their beauty and splendour. Deep inside she too wished to bloom, but no desert bloom was yet forthcoming from her. She longed to bloom in colour and splendour, and envied the fair flowers of the field in all their glory. Yet soon, after a bit of a dry spell, a light desert shower fell over her early one morning, and the most splendid desert rose that has ever been seen sprung forth from her flesh. She was adorned in all her splendour and magnificence, fairer than any common field flower had ever been. She was happy, because she was beautiful, and at last she was free.
