Turn Me Loose

Master Wong as a boy was not always gifted with his hands, nor was he an able student in the martial arts. As a matter of fact, several schools denied his enrollment sighting his lack of everything. Quiet and reserve, Wong grow up under the supervision of his mother, for his father died in a war campaign when Wong was a little boy. Concern for her son, his mother sent him to all the martial arts schools in the area, to no avail. Of course, it did not go too well for him, when some of the rejections became big news in his neighborhood. But because Wong had an UN-canning neck for avoiding trouble, he always seemed to be two steps ahead of it.
A man twirling balls around his fingers, caught Wong's attention, and before long, an hour had pass UN-noticed to Wong. The man twirling the balls became impressed that a boy his age could be engaged so, and took to him right away. Although no words were exchanged, the keen sense of the old man, marveled, as Wong, kept looking back as he began to walk away. Wong came often to gaze the man he called the twirler. It did not take long, before the inquisitive nature of Wong was heighten, when he saw the twirler, dancing in slow motion, and twirling at the same time. Now he was even more interested then ever before. Day by day he came back and day by day the twirler had different moves to show. It was not long when Wong began to practice what he had seen. The dance moves came easy but the twirling moves where a handful, but Wong managed to show promise.
One day while peeping through the fence of the twirler, a hand touched Wong from the back, and almost frighten the living daylights out of him. It was the twirler. With a smile and an open hand waiting for a hand shake, the two exchange salutations. What is your name young man, the twirler asked. My name is Wong, I live not too far from here, that way. With a smile the twirler gave Wong his name and then said, but you can call me Master Lee. I have been practicing some moves I had seen you do, but have a hard time with the balls. Really? asked Master Lee. Come and show me what you have learned so far. It was the first time Master Lee had seen that great promise in any student. And you have accomplished this since the other day? Oh yes! but I'm not too good with them balls. See here, I have balls like yours, but I just cant seem to get them right.
Put you feet here, and raise your chin a bit more, now close your eyes and breath as if the balls are doing it. Oh my!!! said Wong, it's working, it's working! Before long, Wong was twirling like a champion. That day started a relationship, that saw Wong go from a little boy to a young man, known but to his mother and Master Lee. This would have remain so, but for the day a few boys caught up with Wong almost too easily. Wong saw them, and made no moves he would have before, and when confronted, he simply asked the boys that had him hemmed up, to "turn me loose". One boy was almost twice the size of Wong, and there were three of them working as one. Turn me loose began in earnest, as Wong became somewhat frustrated, not because they held him in a locked position, but because Wong didnt want to keep his Master Lee waiting. So without thinking, Wong closed his eyes and breath as if the three boys were doing the breathing, and in a flesh, and a few thumps, Wong was walking almost through the boys. Only looking back to see for himself, that there was no need to run, he had to turn around again, for he could not believe he by himself had done so much damage. Before long, there was a knock on Master Lee's door, and to his surprise, a few men he recognized were standing in his door way. After greetings and salutations, the men accused Wong of beating up three boys and wanted him to show himself and give some sort of explanation of the events. When Wong stepped out from the other room, the men took one look at him and became somewhat embarrassed. It was the same boy that they themselves refused as a student, and he was even more smaller older then he ever was as a young boy. Confused, and bewildered, Master Lee asked for an explanation both for the visit and then looks. It was not long before the teachers began to UN-vine a tale that would have been even hard for him to believe. The teachers left with disgust and embarrassment rolled up into one, and returned back to their do-Jo's with questions of their own.
Turn me loose? is this what you told them three boys that had hold of you? Yes Master Lee, with a look of apprehension, Wong shot back, almost with bashfulness. And you fought them with your eyes closed? I did not stop to think about what I was doing, and because I knew that with the balls if I gave the balls my breath, and won at them, I felt that if I gave my breath to them I would win them too. Several years after that took place, Wong became the only Master teacher, Master Lee ever produced. It was only several years after Master Lee had died, that Master Wong discovered who indeed his teacher was. And to this day, the smile and the secrete live on...nj
