The Ugly Fish

The Ugly Fish

One day there was a fish, his name was Happy and everywhere he went he spread joy like a wildfire. He loved the baker, he loved the chef, the loved the lady who sold the pearls, he loved everyone then one day while polishing his scales he saw his reflection in the mirror for the first time and for the first time was not happy, he felt that his fins were too short, gills too wide and his mouth too big. Distraught by this new revelation he decided to confirm whether he was merely overthinking or merely unattractive. He went to each of his friends to ask if he was truly as grotesque looking as he had thought. Oddly enough no one had ever thought to look at ones appearance for any kind of value so they couldn't give a satisfactory answer. Being of the generous sort he gave them mirrors to help them answer the question they now bothered themselves with. Each came to the conclusion that they were hideous and sought an answer just as the happy fish, after seeing his friends look down upon themselves for their appearances he began to feel better about his own. Intriguinged by this new sensation he began revealing everyone's appearances through the reflection of a pearl, soon his hometown was in chaos and he returned home to look in his own reflection once more only to see that he wasn't as ugly as he thought but that he had now become ugly from within. To remedy his friend's pain he swam into town collecting all the items with which they were judging themselves and threw them into a fissure in the ocean surface. Strangely the items floated upward and each citizen received their mirror back but each with a Crack so large that faces became unrecognizable, it was then that they realized that no matter what their reflections appeared to be they were all born just the same. (This was a one shot on the spot story and not too much went into it so don't be too harsh guys)
