When Looking Back
Yesterday's start was easy enough, Mom and Dad made things look too easy with their failures. As children looking on, we laugh at the over looking in your face truths that seem to pass parents by with such easiness it leads them to youthful sadness. Some children from the pity they have on their parents, come clean in spite the consequences, seeing the clueless-nest that begs them for help. It is this brazen call from adolescence that makes all teenager think that adulthood will be everything they expected it to be.
Tomorrow's hope softens the scrapes and bruises from everyday learning, and with a pocket full of promises, big kids, push off into the great unknown. Giddy delights kick into gear, and time and chance make growing older a fad, and before weakness can be tolerated, Mr. Bill and his companion collections, pull out maps that show case home. Never too far away, no matter where or how far removed it may have been, now, becomes the bandit, as reality taps on the shoulder and Mom and Dad fare a lot better when now was then.
Now's punch can be so unfair, so relentless, and trying to breath through it all, can be a feat but for shame. Some manage to smile through most of it, others use partners to lean on and still others caught the first thing smoking home and begged Mom and Dad not to ask questions. Sliding into adulthood is a lot like sliding into home-base, if the first hit is not a grand slam, be prepared to depend on others and depending on who they are, settle for a base run. Life is more co-existence, then practical independence. We make our own decision, but rarely do those decisions come without effecting others.
Limping promises, become the companion of the youth masses, and those young adults who learn early the plight of disappointments, also get to start over fresh and make a better go, if being truthful to ones self became priority number one. I wish I can tell you that money and lots of it, is a buffer from disappointments. I wish I can show case the many who were gifted every thing on a silver platter, and show they fared the better or made it the best. Reality shows that those with the net working system that gives success, is the same that works for all who were and are successful. Meaning, as an individual, how you learn to co-exist with others, namely like minded people, will prove one way or the other.
When looking back, take the time to review both the good with the bad, the ups with the downs. You will discover, life is a series of mistakes, and like a map, the way up, is oft times off set with all your downs...smile...nj
