Who Is The Morning Star?

Hi. This is a typical breakfast in our family morning. We always fight over who is the morning star. It makes for an interesting morning. We fight among the animals there are four so far. There is Tubby; the adorable mutt, Scruffy, the pain in the butt cat, Gabriel, the talking parrot, and Rainbow the male beta; he is a fish with beautiful fins. Rainbow puffs up after you feed him, and Rainbow hates Scruffy. My Dad says that this place is a zoo, but, hey, who knew?

Let's see there are four children, four pets. Now that's a lot of specialty food here to eat. Oatmeal, cheerios, Wheaties, dog food, cat food, lots of water, bird seed and fish food, oh and I cannot forget the milk.

There is an adorable baby boy in the family, and he always smiles at Mom while he gets fed, changed and put back to bed. Is he the morning star?

There is a cute little brunette who like to wake dad up in the morning, I hear she helps Dad eat his egg sandwich every morning and sings to him before he leaves for work. Is she the morning star?

Then there is that blonde know-it-all in the family. She is the one with the talking parrot who copies her wherever she goes. I hear that she wants to be the pirate of the family, because she always has the word. Is she the morning star?

Then there is me, I am the firstborn, I am the football player, and I am Grandpa's biggest little farmer. Even though I still like to play Star Wars and try to scare my little sisters means that I love them with all my heart. I should be the morning star because I am the number one child. I am the first born. I still know how to break a girl's heart by the age of four because that's what my father taught me.I should be the the morning star in the morning, because of all this and no if's, and butts about it! Wait there are two people in this house who would really know who the morning star is; Mom and Dad. I've got to know right now, and I'm gonna to ask her without any interruption.

So I start running into the house, and run into my Mother. "Whatever is the matter?"

"Who is the morning star?" I ask her.

"In the sky."

"No that is not what I meant, Mom, who is the morning star i9n the morning? Who in this family is the morning star? I ask her again.

"You're Father."

"Father? Why? I ask her with my mouth dropped to the ground.

"Your Father works hard everyday of the year. He gets up every morning and goes to work and leaves us without complaint. He works hard, so we can have a zoo within a zoo to make him happy everyday. He is the morning star, with a bunch of starlet to take care of everyday without being here, so give Dad some credit, okay?"

"Okay. Mom, if Dad is the morning star; and we are the starlets, what doe's that make you?" I ask her.

Mom smiles at me and smile way too big. "I am the evening star, you see, Dad may start the day, but I however, I end the day. So you give me credit, too."

Man, I got stumped again! However, she said that I was her starlet and that is good enough for me.

I wrote this story when I was a stay at home mother in my first marriage. I thought it was cute and that it would help my oldest see that yes he is still quite everything to me.
