Pattunoolpuzhu" (Silkworm), written by S. Hareesh, has Samsa, a 13-year-old boy, as its central character. The name Samsa immediately brings to mind Kafka's Samsa.
While that character undergoes a physical transformation into an insect upon waking from sleep, our Samsa here is someone who, compared to other children his age, mostly keeps to himself, talks to himself, and finds happiness within himself.
At the end of the story, a wondrous transformation occurs. Annie becomes Natasha, and Samsa transforms into the 13-year-old boy who appeared in her dreams in her youth.
This is a wonderful novel to read .
