A Journey of a Soul Call.....

an appreciation review based on the
the poem titled " The Roof "
The Roof
Williamsji Maveli writes,
A Journey sprinkled with vivid life
" There was once a roof when I was a child,
To save me from anything weird or wild.
The roof was strong when I was a child
Sheltered me and I always smiled.
The roof gor older and weaker as I grew,
The world was a maze unknown and new
Though old but the roof was enduring,
Taught me to fly, lending me a wing.
The roof turned fragile day by day,
For its long life all I could pray.
Once a mighty storm came in the way,
Demolished my roof and snatched it away,
There I stand with a roofless house,
Swept as a dry straw after a single douse…"
- Rumpa Ghosh
APPRECIATION
Where the heavy dreadful winds smash away the roofs of heavens, massive oaks, one hundred years old, were shoved over like stems of pasture , and long pine trees as big around as fifty gallon drums, snapped like sticks. Temple inheritance, church sanctuaries, built on the rock of ages, tumbled into random piles of brick, the roof was the protector of all sorts of disasters.
The roof represents your colossal success in real life. Carry out your responsibilities properly and strive for your cherished dreams against all the odds. Also, standing on the roof indicated that you are a open-minded person. Please do not stop broadening your poetic horizons.
REVIEW.
The first poem from Rumpa Ghosh’s first anthology of poetry has been titled as “ The Roof “, symbolically representing the disaster in human life. The roof symbol stands for great changes mostly in a skilled life. In addition to this, it may refer to an attitude of a person or the state of your relationship others as well.
The poem “ The Roof “ also advocates on a communal and social transformation. The most visible elements that are brought forth through this poem is well-versed and well-entrenched ways of looking at issues, the rehabilitated positivism inherent in it, the simplicity in arrangement, lovely in summation and essence, harmonious in its composition and the overall style of putting forward things in such a way that drives home the messages of peace and composure all along.
THE ROOF :
A home without the shadows of a beloved Dad is equal to a roofless house, symbolically from the real life experience of Poetess Rumpa Gosh, The roof represents her own beloved father, who left her lonely; perhaps nowhere is more evident than in the relationship of a father and a daughter.
Outwardly, many father and daughter may appear distant, distinct and disengaged. Dads who shower their daughters with affection may go years without telling their daughters they love them. A father is a person who would never fail his daughter. She can trust him blindly for she knows he will never hurt her. A father is the only male figure she considers ideal and finds the same in her life sharing. The ending lines are very significant
“ There I stand with a roofless house,
Swept as a dry straw after a single douse..”,
the most loved last lines about the Poet's great father.
