I wish you a Happy Labor Day
The reason why we celebrate Labor Day is to pay tribute to everyone that has labored and contributed to society. I honor the union workers, social activist, farmers, miners and everyone that has made this day possible.
Important facts about Labor Day are as follows: The original purpose of Labor Day was to celebrate union workers. Labor Day is always celebrated on the first Monday of September. Labor Day became a national holiday during Grover Cleveland's presidentcy. (Country learning center.com)
During the 1800's the average American worked 12- hour days and 7- day weeks to earn a decent living.
Despite restrictions in some states, children as young as 5 or 6 worked in mills, factories, and mines across the country, earning a fraction of their adult counterparts' wages. Once again, I wish you a Happy Labor Day.
