It Is What It Is

We are just trying to do the best we can
As the chains of the monetary system tighten.
We are lucky to live comfortably for now and we get our kicks
From the material world because this is all we know.
How much longer will we be allowed to remain comfortable?
Sooner or later something has to give,
Something has to happen, something drastic
As this world, the habitat in which we live, is dying.
The world is dying because of us.
While we are comfortable buying the next car, financing the next phone,
Mortgaging the next house, the natural world is slowly being swiped
From under our noses.
WIFI is increasing its negative electromagnetic waves, 3G 4G 5G,
Creating a generation of idiots with manic depression.
We don’t talk anymore, we don’t hug and we don’t know what love is.
Weddings are a fun day out but marriages seldom last while families are torn apart
And children have to suffer the consequences of the imbalanced foundation
Upon which their childhood is formed.
Then we get angry over the violence and hatred of increasingly volatile generations
Of children who feel like they don’t have a voice. So they lash out.
This is the only way to communicate in a world without love.
The only alternative is fear/hate based and the world cries out.
Sand is being taken from the coastlines at an alarming rate
Just so the mega corporations can have higher skyscrapers
To make up for their empty hearts devoid of morals.
The beautiful creatures of the world are becoming extinct,
Creature we take for granted as we cut down the trees
And drain/pollute the rivers that form their habitats.
Even the honey bee is endangered meaning
We will have to rely further on the corporations to produce
Genetically modified food, without a thought
Of how these genetic manipulations may affect our health.
But the chemicals sprayed are done so by the same companies
That run the pharmaceutical industries.
So how do we know they won’t line their pockets
At the expense of our health and the health of our children?
Religion dominates the world and the newest one of all is science.
Everyone relies on science but even this is constantly changing.
It wasn’t long ago doctors thought it was a good idea
To drill holes in their patient’s head to treat headaches.
With every pill and injection comes a side effect.
Does this happen in line with the laws of karma?
You reap what you sow and eventually if you don’t take control of your life
Someone greedy enough will make your mind up for you.
Countries of the world are ruled over by presidents
Which is exactly what you call someone who runs a business.
Everyone is desperately seeking spirituality and that heavenly feeling
Because everyone knows this environment is slowly suffocating us
And yet we accept what we’ve been given
Because we were taught to be grateful for what we have.
As grateful as we may be clearly something is desperately missing here.
Humanity is in dire need of something above the here and now
Something we can’t see but something we are desperate to feel.
As children we have dreams of who we want to be
And what we want to achieve in life
But that voice of the child within ourselves
Becomes neglected more and more as the years go on
And the never ending search for riches chokes the word.
Then we grow old and our broken children
Cart us off into residential homes
To keep us out of the way until we die. Alone.
Our dreams are crushed. Our time has run out.
The Earth’s time is running out also
And the only way we can even attempt to turn this around
Is to love one another and to learn how to empathise.
See the world through the eyes of a stranger.
See the Earth through the eyes of the collective whole
And change the course of destiny by doing
One random act of kindness at a time.
How come it’s so easy to say every penny counts
Yet it’s so hard to say every act of kindness counts.
Even if you don’t get a thank you,
You know you are a spark of light within the darkness.
You are the rain in the desert.
You are the catalyst for change.
We all have a responsibility.
