A wish for a different veiw on beauty

Today, or rather lately, I've noticed most people have had quite a warped sense of beauty. I wish that could be changed and for peoples eyes to be opened or for them to be pulled from the blinding fog they are in. I was actually asked the other day who I thought was the prettiest girl in school infront of alot of people, of course the "pretty" girls had that look upon their faces like they already knew I was going to say them. But of course I did not. I went to the girl to the back of the lecture hall, the one in the hand-me-down-clothes and with glasses and simple just pointed. I swear the pretty girls looked as if I had just insulted their mothers. She looked up and smiled really big, something I had never seen her do. I have noticed that she does not go to many of the school functions or parties, and I hardly even knew the girl. Crazy am I for picking the girl I hardly knew? Not quite so. I had seen her though, standing out front of the grocery store to raise money numerous times for various organizations for shelters, orphans, the homeless, etc. And she always seemed to be the first to help out in times of need. I knew her family did not have much, but that made her humble and not have the need to be given credit for her work, that good feeling you get when you helped someone was enough. I think she is truly beautiful, and many other girls like her are framed as nerdy, ugly, and many other untrue labels. My wish is simple enough. I want the world to think of beauty as something inside, not something superficial or fake. My hope is for a society that people can really be seen for what they truely are, not for what they appear to be.
