Rise

This piece depicts a group of sheep that have broken the bonds of natural order and destroyed their oppressor, the wolf. It is a thinly veiled allegory about a docile populace and the oil industries. Starting with a very dark under painting, I used very thin layers to build up the sheep and the wolf, creating a rich texture to the fur and grass. A pale sun breaks through the clouds overhead to symbolize the shift in power that has taken place.
