TELEMARKETING AT THE OK CORRAL!

TELEMARKETING AT THE OK CORRAL!

This piece is cartoon doodles that the call center telemarketers would draw and then throw away after their shifts. I would dig them out of the garbage and collect them. I did this for 6 years. Ten years after that, I decided to make this painting/collage of all the people in cartoon form that I worked for, was friends with, shared with, and even reading their palms and futures. The images on the art are their doodles but I painted them up a bit, and photographed them, then printed them out and pasted them on the canvas and added that special glue. I painted around the images. If you look closely, you will see images others drew of me and my husband. In particular there was a guy everyone called "Stupid Rich" and he was the one who used to draw cartoons of me and hubby, then throw them away. Almost all the images were taken by me and re done to fit my topic. "TELEMARKETING AT THE OK CORRAL" is just what the title says. If you remember the story of the OK Corral during the cowboy days, then you will understand. This was the last of the Telemarketing phone rooms and one of the first "predictive dial" format where between each call the computer spit out a number every 2 minutes, so many had time to doodle and some are fantastic.
