King of Kings

Look on my countless riches,
My mountains of gravel, and dust.
Gaze on my sprawling kingdom,
My cities of dirt, and rust.
Â
Stand at the foot of my temple,
And praise the mouldy walls.
Wander my wondrous castle,
And honour the empty halls.
Â
I rule over all my subjects
With a fist of rot and crows.
All the woods and all the flowers,
And the ashes on which they grow.
Â
Now kneel before my throne,
And kiss my withered rings.
This wealth in my possession,
The hoard of the King of Kings.

Rory!!! Right up there with your best ever in my mind!!! I can't praise this enough for its brilliant lines, rhyme and the palpable sense of ... what?
dissapointment? Contempt? Utter... something I can't put my finger on but can fully identify with... really excellent mate X
Oh, thanks for all of that, but this is my first publish and I donât figure Iâm the guy you think I am. Whatever the case, thank you. Much appreciated.

Hello Rory...
Sounds like something a Karmic would say...
It shouldn't be long and your Book will be in the Store window listed as #1 New York Best Seller...
I remember before they went common...
I'm just in the habit of reaching up I guess...
Short people have to stretch a lot as it is or be really good at climbing...
I haven't seen anyone carrying a Step Ladder everywhere they go...
Great write!
Thank you for sharing...
