Poem -

You and I

Love pouring out like thick golden sun
The gleam of bronze hair under a blue sky
Laughter rising from the two of us
Like a worshipful prayer
Young and excited, grabbing at life uncaring
So strong, how I remember, living life with you
So unfettered and light we were, still happy
The dredge didn't happen until
We let the chaos in
Listening to the mundane lectures
The dogma of society
The expectations of adulthood gone awry
Oh, I so wish for the old you and I

I wonder at what age it is customary to talk about the burdens of adulthood. We all do it. The opening lines have a very Californian Beach Boys feel to them. And the turning point of your poem is the line with "dredge" in it. And I like chaos in the next line. It ultimately has the feel of a lament for lost youth.
