Live It Well

Live It Well

An image staring back at me
a face I don’t  yet  know,
The mirror says ‘I never lie
you’re old ..I told you so!’
Look at those eyes a blue, grey green,
I guess no longer wide,
but what great things those eyes have seen
that I keep safe inside
 A chrysalis could slowly change
before my childish eyes,
perform a miracle of life
creating butterflies.
A one day butterfly emerged
it’s wings slowly unfold,
and radiant colours filled the sky
flame red  and burning  gold
It held the  heavens in it’s wings
the  chrysalis forlorn,
a fluttering gem,so proud and free
and yet so newly born
So even if the years roll on
and age my outer shell,
I am that one day butterfly
and life ...I’ll live it well!

I wrote this poem some years ago under my poetic name of Lodigiana but hoped you might enjoy it
