POEM BY DR. SHAKRA NANDINI - ANALYSIS BY WILLIAMSJI MAVELI

POEM  BY Dr .Shakra Nandini
LOVE WOVEN IN GRACE
Your face, like moonlight, speaks of springtime’s tale,
In every feature of yours, dreams softly set sail.
From your eyes bursts forth a radiant light,
As if within a prayer, hides salvation’s might.
When your lips move, the blooming season beams,
Even your silence echoes ancient dreams.
If your tresses fall, the night gets swayed,
As though in them, a lover’s gift is laid.
When you walk, time pauses to admire,
As if you alone light destiny’s fire.
In your attire, a fragrant grace is shown,
Like the scent of love when first it’s known

 ANALYSIS

The poem "Love Woven in Grace," though brief, is rich in its depiction of adoration, employing vivid imagery and elevated comparisons to portray a beloved figure whose mere presence transforms the world around us.  The title itself, "Love Woven in Grace," immediately sets the tone, suggesting a love that is not merely felt but intrinsically linked with elegance, divine favor, and inherent beauty. The poem functions as a series of compliments, each stanza focusing on a different aspect of the beloved's being or action, consistently elevating the commonplace to the extraordinary through simile and metaphor. The overall effect is one of deep reverence and awe, portraying the beloved as a source of light, inspiration, and profound significance.

The poem opens with a striking simile: "Your face, like moonlight, speaks of springtime’s tale." The comparison of the beloved's face to moonlight immediately evokes images of gentle radiance, serenity, and natural beauty. Moonlight is often associated with romance, mystery, and calm luminescence. Linking this moonlight face to a "springtime's tale" introduces themes of renewal, freshness, and burgeoning life. The face doesn't just resemble moonlight; it speaks of a story, a narrative of hope and new beginnings, suggesting that the beloved's very appearance carries the promise and beauty of spring.

The poem moves downwards to the lips: "When your lips move, the blooming season beams,  Even your silence echoes ancient dreams." The first line uses a form of synesthesia, associating the physical act of the lips moving whisper with the visual and sensory experience of the blooming season. The idea is that the beloved's words cause beauty and life to radiate outwards, as vibrant and joyful as flowers in bloom. The second line offers a fascinating contrast. While speech brings forth immediate beauty, the beloved's silence resonates with a deeper, more profound wisdom – "ancient dreams." This suggests that their unspoken thoughts or inherent nature hold a timeless depth, a connection to a rich, perhaps even mystical, past or inner world. Their silence is not empty but full of resonant meaning.

The poem reaches another peak of hyperbole when describing the beloved's walk: "When you walk, time pauses to admire, As if you alone light destiny’s fire." The idea of time pausing is a classic way to convey the overwhelming impact of beauty or a significant moment. The beloved's movement is so captivating that it literally stops the relentless march of time for the observer, allowing for pure admiration.

The final couplet focuses on the beloved's attire: "In your attire, a fragrant grace is shown, Like the scent of love when first it’s known." This brings the focus back to a more tangible element, yet it is described in abstract and sensory terms.

The attire is not just clothing; it embodies a "fragrant grace." The use of "fragrant" adds an olfactory dimension, suggesting that the beloved's elegance has a pleasant, perhaps even intoxicating, scent.

This grace is then compared to "the scent of love when first it’s known"—that initial, potent, overwhelming aroma associated with falling in love. This simile beautifully encapsulates the essence of the beloved; their grace, even in something as simple as their clothing, carries the intoxicating freshness and power of nascent love itself.

Thematic richness lies in the poem's exploration of beauty, its connection to nature, and its potential for profound, almost spiritual, impact. The beloved is not just physically attractive; they are a source of light, inspiration, and even destiny.

The poem successfully conveys the intense admiration and awe that a beloved person can inspire, suggesting that true love sees not just the person but the transcendent qualities they embody and the transformative effect they have on the world and the lover's perception of it.

HER PROFILE
Shakra Nandini, a humble being, ventures to present before you a glimpse into her life’s story and her journey through the realm of fine arts. Currently residing in Porto, Portugal, her life, however, is not confined to this one place alone. Her birthplace is the vibrant city of Lahore, yet her being is a confluence of many cultures and traditions.
Her father hailed from a Muslim family in Bangalore, India, and migrated to Pakistan at the time of Partition. Her respected mother, originally from Dhaka (then East Pakistan), underwent a transformation in faith and became a follower of Hindu Dharma.
Her early childhood unfolded in the vast lands of Russia, where streams of knowledge, literature, and culture flowed abundantly. At the tender age of twelve, a profound change occurred—her parents separated, and her mother took her to the Philippines. It was there that she pursued her early higher education and began to shape the aspirations that would define her future.
In 2001, she embarked upon her professional journey in Singapore as a model. Alongside the early days of modeling, she also embraced the rhythm of dance and had the privilege of participating in various dance performances. This passion for the performing arts later took her to the Czech Republic, where, by the grace of the Divine, she served as an actress, dancer, and model under the esteemed institution “Sweet Modelek.”
She is a multidisciplinary artist—one who has ventured into the realms of modeling, dance, writing, and poetry. To her, these arts are like the different banks of a flowing river, each reflecting a unique facet of her existence.
Modeling was her first passion. But for her, it is not merely about standing before a camera; rather, it is a method of storytelling. Every photo shoot and every runway walk is a distinct narrative conveyed through the movement of the body, facial expressions, and the confidence in one’s posture.
Dance is closest to her heart. It is the medium through which she finds alignment with her inner self. Whether it is classical ballet or a contemporary form, in every dance, she feels her soul liberated. Dance has taught her discipline, patience, and the art of living fully in the present moment.
While modeling and dance embellish her outer world, writing and poetry allow her to explore the vastness of her inner universe. Poetry is the mirror of her thoughts and the reflection of her emotions. It gives her the chance to encapsulate her experiences and memories in words and to express those unspoken truths that often remain hidden.
All of these arts are intricately interwoven. The delicacy of dance enhances her modeling, the depth of writing is echoed in every performance, and poetry infuses emotion into every creative expression she shares.
Her deepest wish is to touch the hearts of people through her art and to leave behind a legacy of humanity’s most refined emotions and sentiments. The purpose of her artistic journey is that every form of expression—be it a dance, a photograph, or a single poetic verse—brings joy and serenity to the hearts of others.
She is honored to hold the distinction of being the first Pakistani to earn a doctoral degree in modeling and dance from a prestigious university in Sweden. In 2013, she embraced Hindu Dharma—a spiritual and artistic awakening that became a beacon of light in the darkness.
To her, Hinduism is not merely a religion but a treasure trove of profound wisdom. It is a philosophy that encompasses the vastness of the universe and opens its doors to every seeker wishing to understand the depths of their own being. Hindu Dharma provides varied paths to spiritual realization—through devotion, knowledge, or righteous action. It teaches her that the pursuit of truth is not a linear path, but a deeply personal and inward journey. This philosophy touches hearts and grants every soul a new depth of understanding.
