Poem -

The weight of life

The weight of life

In the silence of the night, I weep,
For the dreams I’ve lost, the promises I can’t keep.

Shadows stretch where light once stood,

Where joy has fled, and nothing’s good.

Each step I take feels like a lie,

A whispered hope beneath the sky,

But the stars are dim, the moon won’t rise,

And all that’s left are hollow sighs.

I chase the echoes of what could have been,

But they vanish like a fleeting wind,

And in their place, the emptiness stays,

A silent ache that never sways.

Life drags on, a heavy chain,

With fleeting moments of sweet refrain,

But mostly, it’s the bitter rain—

That soaks my soul in endless pain.

I long to rest, to find release,

But peace, it seems, is out of reach.

So here I stand, alone and torn,

In the hollow heart where hope is worn.
