Poem -

If there be a white rose

If there be a roseĀ
mayhap it be white
growing lone in this strange
place
Of horror and fright

If there be a rose
it be hidden in thornsĀ
for these years are mad
brambles
All wailing ... no song ...

no sunlight no ending no comfort
All stark
if there be a white rose then
This place be too dark

to ever find it,

M

A Flower is the only thing made of white that will not stain with age. Lovely Verse. ☘

Your words like always stand bold on the page like I'm living a Deja vu and the words are organised just as they were always meant to beĀ

This highlights in my opinion where poetry has it over other forms of writing. Such words as I see here come from a poetic heart and soul. They express emotion and feeling so much better than prose. And as I read your words I can definitely feel, as a fellow poet, from where these emotions emanate. I like the repeated refrain ofĀ  "if there be ...." and the sudden dramatic ending.Ā
