Shrine

Shrine

Years after my youth
I return to this old place
(I grew up here/have grown
since)…

resurgence/renewal,
same voice of wind in the oaks,
same shadows they cast on the old pond,

even the same silence at the shrine,

but the door is closed,
one
centre
missing,

my mother …….. long gone
and finally now true grief has found me;

all I can do, is fill my tears
with the pain (red hot needles
in my throat) −

too much world came between us then
for me to see
what mattered most.

I am glad they let me lay your ashes
by another oak nine years ago;

the last seven were the way in
into the time now
where I am your son…

This candle is for you.

'True Love is the essence of the Soul.' My mom passed 6 years now too. Lovely Verse.

Well, yes, but "me mum" made some bad choices to which I gave the wrong responses back in the days. Sadlu, Icould only begin to understand both my parents after I lost them both to dementia... Sorry for your loss...

Thank you, yet grief that is shared is a great comfort, isn't it? And I am aglad to have processed so much world that I can feel that I miss my mum...

Dear John, I too am missing my mother, she died when I was 37. Your imagery is truly beautiful, the emotional attachment within this beautiful poetry makes me not only remember my own mother but reminds me not to feel sad. Keep lighting the candles keeping her beautiful memories alive. 🌹 A heartwarming piece of poetry with a gorgeous photo I presume are you and her together. 🌹

Aye, that is my mother about a year before her death, already completely lost to us by Alzheimer, hence the hand on her back, the only way to make a form of contact. She was an artist and poetess too (well, we share the poetry, in occupational sense I am an accountant for basically all non-european clients at the office (about 120 out of 400 clients), I love both my jobs 😂🏢🤣😎

Well, numbers in our trade are obviously important, but the fun is in the bending of the tax laws... I basically deal with small restaurants (Chinese) and barbershops and even after 30 years (I came late to the trade) I am suprised by my clients, needing hard thinking to put things right again💭😎
