The Journey

The Journey

He embarked on the passing train
with baggage full of acquired knowledge,
Leaving unwanted remains inside the caboose,
Knowing that he must steam forward
despite all the tribulations and woes,

The train passes by many stations
including a brief stop at memory lane,
Where the scenery always changes
between happy and grey,

The adventure is exciting,
the encounters are joyful,
But departures are always sad and sorrowful,

As the voyage continued, he understood
this was not a two way-ticket
And the journey would not again be repeated,

All passengers—first and second class—
will eventually reach the last station,
But it’s about a good journey
not the end destination,

With the solemn stride of a soldier
marching through valleys and planes,
He treaded carefully and proceeded in front,
as the conductor of his life train.

As a young man the conductor once punched my ticket several times after each other. The cat with 9 lives it seems. A Splendid bit of Poetry.

I agree. People get on and off, but the train must stay true
