Simply Being

I am here! Simply here! Listening and lookingâŚ
The leaves are greener than yesterday,
and the days are cooler than last year,
Night is soon approaching, slowly and seducing
like the deep gaze of a lover,
But one needs to tread with care, as night likes to pry
on the most intimate secrets, calling and luring
and dragging you to the entrails of the earth
till you spit out the last word and let out
the last ghost that inhabits your very soul,
But night is your trusted confidant
and will guard you under her wings,
soothing, mystical, and ethereal, analogous to angels,
I surrender to the night⌠close my eyes and respireâŚ
I am here! Just here!
Simply being.

Love the use of respire. Your words show how we are never just simply being. Certainly not as poets. And your portrayal of the night in the life of a poet is spot on. It comes as a double edged sword for sure. A confidant yes but also a wheedler who loves nothing more than digging down into your soul and extracting feelings of which you may never have been aware. And the end to your poem reads like an invitation to the night to come.
Bernie, you always make me think!
Thank you for taking the time to reflect on this and sending me such precious words.
Stay well, my Poet friend. Â BÂ
Â
My pleasure Bernadette. I guess whether a reader's interpretation agrees with that of the writer, and I feel mine doesn't, matters not. We all see different things in poems.Â
Stay well too my friend. B
Of course it does. Spot on!
And I can say that about my poems, youâre usually spot on, or you see it with different eyes and make me pick up little things that I didnât see in it. Thank you Bernie.Â
You are very welcome Bernadette.Â
Â
And you said in your last poemÂ
(I always read your poems)Â
that youâre allergic to beautiful women? Yeah, right!
You cannot see a beautiful image, and you want to become a tree. Lol!
I appreciate you sharing your thoughts, 2 Much 2 Love.
BernadeteÂ
hmmm!
What you are saying here is wonderful. And I totally get it.
Beauty, any form of it, is to be celebrated. Emptiness happens when one cannot see the beautyÂ
around, yes, there is ugliness out
there, but it is still a beautiful world, and we need to turn our faces towards the beauty, like the
sunshine turns its own face towards the sun (from my old poem). You see, 2 Much 2 Love,
I do understand and see that your poems are the subject of beauty.
I made a little joke, I didnât think you would mind. I am sorry. Â BÂ
I am deeply sorry, I thought I had offended you,
So I removed everything,
Beauty does hava many characteristics
Even in secrets,
Please forgive me
B.
There is nothing to forgive, 2 Much 2 Love. Donât worry, itâs all good. Keep writing, youâre good at it.

With the light of optimism you courageously and patiently carry your lantern through the darkness, grounded as you face the unknown, letting go as you conquer the night. Another beautiful piece Bernadete.Â
Ian, what a wonderful reflection!
Thank you for showing me, for being the lantern.Â
Warmest wishes, Â BÂ
