This haiku has a connection to the other one you posted. Why is it that when a poet writes of broken love and dreams it always has far more of an impact than when the poet writes of love? Or is that just me? Perhaps why "Yesterday" is the most recorded song. You write of broken love so well, so convincingly. I love "piercing" as a verb. It totally suits your meaning.
