Augury
From my Raven Collection

Ā
Looking back now
Ā
I should have knownĀ
Ā
when I saw Raven thereĀ
Ā
in the middle of the roadĀ
Ā
because, it was 5 am
and I was finally going home
Ā
I was the happiest Iād been for ages
Ā
A perfect summer's Dawn
Ā
with a perfect rising Sun
Ā
I'd never seen him there before
in the middle of the road
Ā
so I should have known?Ā
Ā
I should have read it as a sign?
Ā
and I should have turned backĀ
Ā
so now I know...
Ā
I cannot change what is or what has been?
Ā
but if I ever see him there again
Ā
My darling Raven, in the middle of the roadĀ Ā
Ā
I'll know, I'll know...
Ā
just what to do.

I don't want to presumeĀ
I don't remember what the RavenĀ
Represents?
He is my friend through grief, he is my Messanger when someone dies, he is my warning when something bad happens, he is also a fictional character born out my my deep grief for those I lost suddenly like my mother who was 64 and my brother who was 25, my friend who died of cancer she was 34, I can tell you that the first time I ever read The Raven of Edgar Allan Poe, I picked up a pen and started writing about my own grief, so yes fictional yet an incredible part of my writers journey š¹ thank you for asking. š¹
I remember about your brotherĀ
I didn't know the rest
A totem? Or in Aussie, a dreaming?
Would you consider it?
I had to look up the word totem, yes I suppose a sort of spirit guide, thank you. I did actually see a raven in the middle of the road in July at 5 am when I left for London, unfortunately it was quite the sign, I had the most unfortunate trip home, but it's ok, I'm 50 years old andĀ I can take what life to throws at me. Thank you so much Rory, for your incredibly kind curiosity, I've actually written a kind of anology about the raven thanks to you. ā¤ļø
