1-800-Let-MeBe

1-800-Let-MeBe

How I have a want, a need, to be not pitied.

Why do you look at me, and give me that chance,

is it because you believe you can fix me?

Does my worth not matter, did I stumble in happenstance,

Am I a pet project in need of a savior,

a spiraling top about to wreak havoc.

Why is it never, you meet my qualifications,

goodbye stranger.

It is always, I'll take a chance on you.

Nobody ever does anything as a favor,

They always want something you are not prepared to give.

I went through so much to keep you at bay,

because I wondered if you misunderstood,

who I was and what I am,

in truth I am lost and in such a ragged sham.

Maybe I don't deserve your pity,

I don't deserve my own,

I gave it up along with everything that mattered,

because when I saw that it did,

I lost all nerve.
