#2 to the woman who came before me

To the woman of my family came for me

with the beautiful brown skin and dark curls up in buns black clips carefully applied eyeliner and dark red lipstick

who took care of dinner making Mola or supports that could make your mouth water

who took care of the children and the houses on their own when the men worked

to the woman is my family
the ones who had fire in their eyes they passed to me

to the woman of my family
who loved fiercely and fought harder who never backed down

who had men begging on their knees With a single arch of a brown or wink of an eye with a flick of the hair

to the woman of my family
who moved to different countries so the children could have better lives then them

they are my ancestors my abuleitas my abulas my mama

the women who came for me who I keep in my heart and whose fire I carry in my eyes pride
