300 Spartans
Earth and water for peace and yield,
Instead they meet upon the battle field.
Reluctant to bow and relinquish control,
They fight for their honour with warrior’s soul.
They execute poetically, natural in skill,
Null to barbaric, they expertly kill,
Raining fist and swords upon foes,
They fall in abundance, fatal in blows.
Three hundred they stand defiant and strong,
They fight for the Greeks to right a wrong.
Xerxes indomitable hot in pursuit,
King Leonidas he admires and wants to recruit.
Laughs midst gestures, standing tall above slain,
He curses their madness and does not refrain.
God king Xerxes erupts in despair,
Unleashes a billow of spears through the air.
As they crash through the ribs of the free,
Together they die, slain human debris.
Never forgotten, respectful in truth,
Ten thousand return to see it through.
