A BREATH OF FRESH AIR

A BREATH OF FRESH AIR

THE SUNSET OVER THE PACIFIC
IS MAGNIFICENT THIS TIME OF YEAR,
WHAT A DELIGHTFUL SIGHT
TO SEE THE SEAGULLS
LIFT THEIR WINGS WESTWARDS
FOR THEIR NIGHTS REST.

A COOL BREEZE SLIDES ACROSS THE SHORE
AS A GIFT FROM THE RESTLESS WAVES,
CAUSING SUCH FREEDOM OF SPIRIT,
AND DELIGHT TO THE HEART,
HAV’ENT ESCAPED THE NOISOME CITY.

AS I LAY ON MY BLANKET,
I AM LOST IN THOUGHT
OF THE BLESSEDNESS
OF THE SIMPLE THINGS IN LIFE.

WHILE THE SUN DESCENDS
INTO ITS HIDING PLACE,
IT GIVES WAY TO STARS
THAT ARE AWAKEN
BY THE DARKNESS OF THE NIGHT.

A BREATH OF FRESH AIR
FILL MY LUNGS
EVERY TIME I INHALE
AND I AM THANKFUL,
FOR THIS GIFT OF LOVE
FROM HE WHO HOLDS THE WORLD
IN THE PALM OF HIS HANDS.

WILFORD BARKER.
