A BROKEN DAM

A BROKEN DAM

Should I not vent, my heart overflow
The sewage of betrayal that lies down below
The ocean of tears that floods my soul
Should I not feel the frustration of an ant lost in the snow?

Should I not call out for mercy after being beaten
Without a cause,
A victim of circumstances whose spirits were trampled and tossed
Left for dead, as my blood graffiti the sand
Should I not cry out with the pain and agony of a human?

Why am I singled out for the wrath of the gods
I pay them homage and obey their words
Following in the footsteps of my ancestors of old
A servant of their teachings and a slave to the sword.

I seek an intercessor, one who will plea my case
Without his involvement, I’ll lose my life race.
So, draw near to the whisper of my fainting heart
And comfort my soul least my spirit shall depart.

Wilford Barker.
