A Captive Uncaptivated Audience

A Captive Uncaptivated Audience

Lock the doors, keep them in,
Throw away the keys.
The minutes crawl, the hours drag,
It seems like centuries.

This auditorium this lecture hall,
Feels like a prison cell.
One sat here and me over there,
A social distanced hell.

Do this do that! Do this do that!
Broadsided in each face.
We are learning absolutely nothing,
A sham and utter disgrace.

Endless speaker after endless speaker,
Downloads chapter and verse.
An audience losing the will to live,
All phoning for a local hearse.

Cold automaton so called speakers.
With no warm greeting smile.
Dear God try to act human,
At least once in a while.

We'll surely receive a comfort break,
To escape once and for all.
Alas no! They carry on and on,
With their deliberate drawl.

Finally we discover there is a God,
As the last speaker slinks away.
Then we're all cruelly reminded,
To be continued the following day.

Shaun, those drawn out days of speeches can be mind numbing. A good write that didn’t make me yawn to read it. Not like all those speeches

Gwendoline many thanks glad you enjoyed reading and I'm a happy poetry bunny it didn't make you yawn.😂
And some speeches are like pulling teeth and are true pants.
Thanks again and will be making inroads to your latest and always worth reading poetry.

Jill glad you enjoyed reading it and that was a bad day at the museum, they weren't our staff thank heavens just rent a bore.
A dark day was endured by one and all, with no light at the end of tunnel.
And I don't know about clever, I can be a real horses arse sometimes, just ask around!😂
Anyway moving on, how are you!
Thanks again Jill and at least springtime offers us all light, hope and beauty to experience and don't forget the clocks go back this Sunday.
I hope you're well and doing fine my poetic friend and I wish you all the best.    ⭐️❤️❤️💕💙

The fish of the sea

I can and can`t sympathise with this, first-year was SUPA and I mean super-tough, after that, I basically sleep in the workshop and it's bloody awesome... Maybe it's a bit different for engineering, but eh, I feel for you man, Enjoyed this one!
