Poem -

We were young

We were young

We were young, We were youngΒ

A young man and his best friend

enrolling into the war to end it, but without knowing it

would be the start of the war in ourΒ mind.

We were young,We were young

A crying soldier on the field looking for his limb, bloodΒ

washing away with hisΒ tears in the merciless rain.

We were young, We were young

A loud explosion deafening our ears as we jumped over barbed wireΒ

which was when we prayed it would drown out the cries of pain we still heard.

We were young, We were young

A mother crying into a neatly folded flag clenching that letter that toldΒ her of his fateΒ

as she screamed.

We were young,We were young

There IΒ sat in a chair rocking slowly staring blankly at the wallΒ

age rocking me dearly as death laid his cold hand on my shoulder which it had seemed to be the only bliss ive felt in years.

I see his face as I close my eyes for the last time,

We were young, We were young.
