A Childhood Understanding
she told me not to worry
it wouldn’t last long
she explained to me all thingsÂ
the way a child should hear them
the gloomy cloudsÂ
simply couldn’t hold back anymore
the sharp bursts of light
to guide far off ships
the boisterous sky
performing one last song
before the rain would come
and make new
