Poem -

A CONCUPISCENCE NATURE

IT WAS FOR YOUR
THAT I CLIMB THE SCAFFOLDING EVERY DAY,
YOUR EYES ALL LIT UP ON PAY DAY,
GIVING YOU THE FINERIES OF LIFE
TAKING YOU FROM THE STREETS
AND MAKING YOU MY WIFE.

I THOUGHT I COULD CHANGE
YOUR DESIRE FOR THE STREETS,
HAVING A FAMILY AND A DECENT PLACE TO SLEEP,
BUT THE LIFE YOU ONCE LIVED
KEPT CALLING OUT TO YOU,
AND SOON I REALIZED
THERE WAS NOTHING I CAN DO.

LIKE A DOG RETURNING TO HIS VOMIT
YOU HAVE RETURNED TO YOUR OLD WAYS,
PROSTITUTING YOURSELF ONCE MORE
LIKE YOUR SO CALLED, GOOD OLD DAYS.

YOU HAVE PROVEN TO ME
THAT CHANGE MUST COME FROM WITHIN,
AND NO MATTER THE ADORNMENT OF GIFTS
OR PRECIOUS THINGS,
A PERSON’S CHOICES IN LIFE
ANOTHER CAN NEVER CHANGE.
