A Diamond Smile...

With one look she cut me up, she gave me strength, she gave me youth,
I've been hurt before, this is different, she is the flavour in forest fruits,
Sweet, bitter, succulent dripping with zest, zest in how she lives,
I'm old and twisted, not what she needs but love she gives.
Like a star studded sky,
She had her diamond smile,
My heart was hers and hers was mine,
But her smile,
Her smile,
She came into my life like a knife,
I bled, from her diamond smile.
Life doesn't seem fair, you love and you hurt, I'm cold and the bed smells of her,
I don't want to roll over because I know she's not there, tears soak my sheets,
She's a txt or a phone call away for something to say or take away the pain,
I wish this never happened, was my heart so innocent or was it just weak?
She has a hold over me, is this called love? It's been that long since I've known that feeling,
I'm not built with a hardened soul, I've nowhere to go and time without her has no meaning,
Nothing I do,
Nothing I say,
Will take this feeling away...
Like a star studded sky,
She had her diamond smile,
My heart was hers and hers was mine,
But her smile,
Her smile,
She came into my life like a knife,
I bled, from her diamond smile.
She's so close but yet so far away...

Wayne, This sounds like a love that would change me into a different person. Been there done that. I would still do it again. Nice poem. Enjoyed. Love, Terry Kay
