A Generation that Murdered Love

"911 what's your emergency?" 

I would like to turn myself in.

I am a murder.

we all are.

we've murdered love

I swear I didn't mean to

you see it was self defense.

love got to close 

so I shot it in the head.

Love knew too much.

Sow the parts of me I tried so hard to hide.

It was a crime of passion.

I was afraid of what love would do to me.

I thought love had done me wrong in the past.

The truth is that wasn't love it was lust. 

Broke my heart and left me there to die.

So I killed the love in my life before it could kill me.

My generation has murdered love.

We've romantized the idea of pain.

Idolize lust and call it love.

We're too broken to see what is right in front of us.

You sow, the real me.

thats why you had to go.

i confused the lust that hurt me

for the love that wanted to heal me.

so yes, label me a killer

because I pulled the trigger on love.
