A Home Away From Home

A Home Away From Home

The smell of sea salt fills my nostrils,
Staring out from the balcony I'm greeted by a fleet of sailing ships and a summer breeze that cools me off,
The stress from work seems miles away,
Faint sounds of traditional music flood my ears, growing louder and louder,
In the streets, people dance along.

This place, although foreign to most, is my second home,
Culture, Language and Modernism seem to blend together in this place, co-existing in harmony,
From my balcony, I see people who have decided to cool off,
Shielding themselves from the unforgiving heat of the sun, lying on the beach and swimming in the water.

Even after coming here every year since I can remember this place has always found a way to surprise me,
Whether it be festivals or get together,
I'm always left feeling happy and welcome in this place, that is my second home.
