The Man of Few Words
There once lived a lonely old man,
He rarely talked or interacted with anyone,
People called him all sorts of horrible names,
The Man would have wept at their comments, had he any tears to spare,
No one knew his pain, the suffering he had endured.
As a child, his father would come home drunk and abuse him,
At twenty-three he lost his wife and child to a drunk driver,
When he cried for them, he was told to be a man.
As he rested under the tree where he and his wife had their first date,
He closed his eyes,
Picturing her beautiful face again,
Taking a final breath, he went still and cold,
His body laying where he first experienced true happiness.
