A Land Lost

And so,
And so he walked.
To where time stood still,
Amongst the browning bracken of Blackberry Hill.
Where trees stood like royal guards still,
Lining the way to the ruined mill.
And no creature nor breeze seemed to live,
Not even the stream under the bridge.
The grass lay like a soft blanket,
Untrodden of as yet.
Clouds froze like a painted picture,
A golden tinge of orange mixture.
And so,
And so he walked.
To the place where no one talked,
Where aged butterflies fixated.
Upon flower and leave,
And dust set upon buildings sheaf.
Empty windows, broken doors,
Upturned tables and ripped up floors.
And so,
And so he walked.
To where the willow wept,
And the buttercups had deceased.
He sat with back to tree,
And breathed life into the dead.
And he didn't walk anymore,
And so.
