A lantern through the working sky...

A lantern through the working sky...

Bright white eyes tells the story of why the darkened face
Many of them sold and stitched a robot day
If we only knew how it affected the hungry and brave
There was no choice for a working man back in the day

Thick dark heat from a Lantern through the working sky
Sons and daughters seen the Grit on  their face asking why
Thick dark heat from a Lantern through the working sky
Kids missing their dad time after time with tears in their eye's

The walk home with heavy feet and scarred hands
The rain pounding down on the story telling streets
The clouds steal the sun and in crowds they stand
The child runs to his dad with a racing heartbeat

The tired face and the sound of their chest
The rocking of the chair and a dream of better days
Sitting by the fire and thoughts of his friends
The mind and body still holding the Lantern ablaze

Thick dark heat from a Lantern through the working sky
Sons and daughters seen the Grit on  their face asking why
Thick dark heat from a Lantern through the working sky
Kids missing their dad time after time with tears in their eye's
Holding a Lantern through the working sky
Holding a Lantern through the working sky...
