A Little Robin Called Buddy
At the museum where I work,
There's a robin that I feed.
He's a chirpy little fellow,
As I bestow him bird-seed.
One bleak morning it happened,
I foolishly forgot his food.
As he landed right beside me,
Expecting a meal to be viewed.
I'm sorry was all I could say,
But Buddy stay close and near.
The leaves covering the ground,
Have given me a great idea.
My foot scraped the leaves away,
To expose fresh soil beneath.
Revealing little grubs and worms,
I welcomed with great relief.
Hungry Buddy didn't waste time,
He began eating his morning meal.
As I scraped away a larger patch,
With a bigger breakfast to reveal.
I quietly left little Buddy to it,
Whispered him a promise on my way,
With food galore this afternoon,
For his friendship I won't betray.
