The Melting Snow

The Melting Snow

Memories to indulge myself
The echoes that still remain
Are likened to the melting snow
Slowly dissolving to acid rain

And my body, it’s melting too
Muscles decaying, wrinkled skin
Like an unmade bed or forgotten fruit
Discarded to the kitchen bin

And the steel resolve, unresolved
Pelted, smelted, melted down
Determination terminated
Porcupine thorns succeed the crown

Not long now, the tattered curtains
Are being drawn to close the show
And as the pair melt together
I’m minded of the melting snow
