A Poem For Mollie

I have never forgotten you, nor the precious moments we shared;
You’ll never know what you meant to me or how much I cared. 

Our chats about your younger years, going to the dance halls with your sister;
Forgetting how she’d passed away and suddenly remembering how you missed her.

The disease made you forget us and you’d question who we were;
But we’d look into your eyes and we’d still see you there.

Banging your hands on your head, saying “my head has gone wrong”;
Trying to calm you down by piano and singing your favourite songs.

The smile on your face whenever your memory fought through;
Is a lasting precious vision that I’ll always have of you.

An incredible fighting spirit and grit like no other;
You’re a very special lady, granny and mother. 

I’m grateful to have known you, you’ve left an ever lasting mark;
Memories of you dear Mollie that will stay forever in my heart.
