Hope Died

Hope began as a small child,Â
Torn from her mother’s womb.Â
She grew beside me, meek and mild,
Her voice my only anchor in a world of doom.Â
We journeyed on against the shadows,Â
She stayed with me through all my sorrows.Â
Her voiceÂ
Her wordsÂ
A fragile promise
A holy thread through life’s abyssÂ
But the night stretched on for far too longÂ
The night deepened, fierce
The storms were strongÂ
A monster rising from the wholeÂ
A silent void that swallowed her soul.Â
Her voice grew weak and faintÂ
I held on tightlyÂ
But she diedÂ
And I accepted my fateÂ
In the distance I could hear my loved ones crying in despairÂ
So I gave the memories of the wordsÂ
Hope used to shareÂ
Then suddenly light split the night skyÂ
Hope rose through MeÂ
Hope had not diedÂ
Darkness will never leaveÂ
It’s a force that stays nearÂ
But now I shine my light to calm the fear
A lamp for others lost in prayerÂ
When hope feels absentÂ
I stand there
