A Red Brick World

classified as one thing or another

restricted by stereotypes and labels

what people call you becomes who you are

judgment and rumors have evolved into our everyday lives

we are tied down by what society thinks of us

our voice is drowned out by what people say about us

how we are perceived sometimes contrasts as much as black and white from who we actually are

but who even are we?

the lost generation doomed to failure?

or just a bunch of absent teens brainwashed by cell phones and media?

no

we are individuals with unique minds, appearances, beliefs, and passions

we should not be expected to live the life of our parents or anyone else

we should not be discriminated against by what race, sexuality, or any other characteristic

these things describe us, they do not define or limit us

we are free to make our own decisions and to live our own lives without the fear of judgment

we must fight for ourselves and each other

we must prove to be more than what is assumed of us

we must do these things or risk enslavement in a red brick world guarded by the ones who hate and judge us the most
