A river's calling

Sadness is like a river
That goes up and down the stream
The reflection shown upon its waters
Are either false dreams of what you want to be
Or true images of how the world sees you
The person you had become in all those years
A river so big and long
Easily to be misguided and misunderstood
That staring at it could make you weak and take away all that what’s strong
A feeling that’s causing you to drown in a mixture of emotions
The good ones, bad ones and all those you can’t simple control
As these emotions don’t belong, but continuously place you in the wrong
Like the tides of waves
That with high tide easily can reach and hit the shore
And with low tide open up new unknown depths for the bravest to explore
But beware of the darkness and cold that these waters bring
As a river carries many faces, one relentless for the weak
Waves that are at their strongest when the moon rises to it's peak
Sadness is like a river
Getting filled tear by tear, by all those that contribute fear
Or those who by floating so long, forgotten their places amongst the strong and became confused
Lost on the ocean, drifted alone upon the endless sea
That soon enough they have forgotten the person they truly wanted to be, the one for the world to see
Sunken to the bottom for all eternity
As it's still crying and calling for help
Unable to surface again if one doesn't truly believe

" Getting filled tear by tear, by all those that contribute fear" nice write! .......Jim
Thank you Jim,
For all the nice comments you've given me so far...
I like to use similar sentences within my poems but rewrite them whenever the context changes.
I call my poetry form 'Repetitive Poetry' (I got a diary filled with poems that never even met the eye of other people) I have been writing since I was 17 years old... I love it because it reliefs me of many personal pains I've to deal with in my life, aswell the fact that I've being depressed for like half of my life. Because like many people know life isn't easy, but hard... for some it's easier to adapt then others, for me it's rather a survival.
Since I found this site in 2019 it's nice for me to also explore others writing and learn how they see the world in their perspective even if theres still a language barrier because my foreign language is Dutch. I'm good at writing dark and sad poems, because it's the way I truly felt for a long time, but whenever I feel I go to deep or when it starts to hurt me I quit writing for couple of weeks/months or try to add a positive one to sort of cleanse my thoughts that are at that moment negative.
I hope that within time more people start to see the poetry I write, it's different and not basic (and might have some spelling issues) but my poetry is very realistic, cause it's me that's always like talking to them.
I try to inspire people, but also warn some to the dangers the world can have as I experienced many of them in my very young age still (28)

You 2 :)
If it can't become worse, it can only become better.

Careful now! Experience has taught me time and again that no matter how terrible things are, no matter how dark the day becomes, things can ALWAYS be worse! 😉 But yeah, with vaccinations now available let us hope for better days x
wonderful poem
Thank you Greg for the comment
I wish my upcoming poems shall have the same feeling.

A superb soulful metaphoric poem, of drowning in the river of sadness yet encouraging all to surface with belief. Epic muse wow! Kudos!
Plz pleez do read and comment my newest poem too.
And happy new year to you poet!
Thank you for the comment
I'll read poems sporadically as I search for some that could inspire me too whenever I wouldn't have any ideas of my own. But right now my head is still full enough to keep me going for a while :) But when there's time I'll check some of your work too.
