A Sailors’ Comfort

fair maiden, true love is for eternity
My heart once lived beyond the seventh sea;
but a home, is what I’ve found with thee
And no other man for you, there shall ever be
If I was a nobleman we’d live in a palace pretty
But I’m a sailor by birth,
a sailor’s woman forever you’re destined to be.
For this storm rages on, like an endless night;
It surely will take my flesh and bones tonight;
to put me away in Davy Jones’ Locker;
and soon you'll be mustered there.
So chilling is the tempest, bitter is the rain
the wind is crying out your name
Winging your soul to our eternal domain;
your love is the comfort promised me
For no other man for you there shall ever be

amazing Chris! I love sea poems I have several poems dedicated to the brackish folds!
I know you do, Lisa and they are amazing, love this kind of old language stuff, so glad you liked this one, and I'm most appreciative of your generous comment, be will, poet
Hi Christopher A great write the imagery is wonderful
it reads as if written many years ago with the old sailors of the seas
A swashbuckling romantic scene is brought to my mind
very much enjoyed, friend
Best wishes Debs
Deborah thank you so much, I wasn't sure how this one would come off to be honest, I was trying to write a poem about a selfish doomed sailor who wants his woman with him on the 'other side' to Davy Jones locker lol; the dude is hardcore and wee bit selfish; but he's looking for comfort... glad you found the language legit, wow, your comment makes me feel good about this one, thanks a million...cheers
Hey LONGSTREET!! (smiles)....I LOVE what you've done here by using consistency in your terminology to create the ambiance so befitting for your title......" So chilling is the tempest, bitter is the rain.."....I so enjoy it when piece comes together like this one has.....a pleasure to the minds eye of the reader....... your gift for wielding words shines again here brother poet!!.......ALL STARS....... cool read!!......LOVE and ROCKETS !!........T xo. ?
T, I think I might go back using that name, I got a message on Facebook addressed to Curtis Longstreet and it looked so cool....dude I love your language, 'consistency ambiance befitting', all in one sentence; high five! you are the baddest 'mamma jamma' no doubt, hey I owe you big time for this comment bro, I'm usually fairly confident that a write I post will fly, but with this one I'm out of my elements, had to get into a doomed sailors's mind; I find the guy somewhat creepy in wanting his woman to join him in his underwater grave; my gawd, is that what 'true love' is? lol, I think Chris still has a lot to learn on the subject....hey, I'm coming out there to see you guys, soon, if the good Lord willing and the creek don't rise, be well, hugs
Can't beat sailors, the sea and their true love. Enjoyed the read. It did have the feel of an old sailing song. -Mimi.
thank you so much for saying that, Mimi, you are too kind, hey, I just want to say again how cool your Charleston poem is, you have so much expression, love that write....be well
This is chilling Christopher. Cursed fate can not be abated... No running will set her free. It is refreshing to take something normally viewed as romantic and make it something scary instead. There is a fine line between love and obsession :) Well done and thoroughly enjoyed. Hugs and Blessings, Rebecca
I appreciate your comment greatly, Rebecca, thank you, I wasn't trying to write a standard romantic poem, so happy you got my intent, you are very encouraging...have great day, glad you liked
Hey Chris....there is always something gripping about your writes.....such a love story.....but wait! what if she doesn't join him at the sea....will he still love her?....enjoyed
Lots of love...Rose
Rose, I think he will be somewhat discomforted, without her presence, but love is forever they say, we'll never know, love is a very mysterious thing, my friend, lol....great comment, hugs
