A sight to behold

I lay in peace in meadows green
Surrounded my natures screen
The sun beats down like a hot drum
And beats against my chest
And there across the meadow
With these eyes I was then blessed
I watched in awe
Wide eyed
And there across the meadow
Standing 12 hands high
With a Chestnut main
That danced within the breeze
At first I thought my eyes had been deceived
I rubbed them twice as to make them believe
I moved around for a better luck
Ripped my coat as I got stuck
And then I saw
I couldn’t believe my luck
I pulled my coat and became unstuck
And there along by her side
A baby foal stands and opens its eyes
At first he stumbled, almost tumbles
As it wrestles to its feet
Gentile yet off balanced
Yet still a life complete
The mother with her chest nut head
And fine mane of hair
Lifts it up
Then across the meadow she then stares
Then sniffs the air with nostrils flared
And with a nudge off they trudge
I guess I had her spooked
I think the giveaway was the dust kicked up by their galloping hooves
And the speed which they had moved.
So I sat down and ate my food
Laid down amongst the whispering grass
And reminisced on what did pass
Those beautiful creatures I did see
Will never leave my memory
I’ll hold that sight for eternity
