A Social Drawback

A Social Drawback

All I ask for
is to unloose the tongue
believing it won’t block
among people bar none

A social gathering
is a step too far
where you are not wanted
feeling you have a scar

Indeed scarred you are
socially unable to compete
what is your future?
sitting alone in your back seat

(the book 'stammering its cause and cure' by Benjamin Nathaniel Bogue written in 1929 really made me think afresh on this subject and especially a quote from the book by Mr Bogue who spoke on the stigma thats associated with stammering on a social level.
He said ' it is true, but unfortunate, that the stammerer is not wanted in any social gathering'. This is indeed true, any stammerer will sadly admit to this being so very true.)
