A Star Was Born

I'm looking for a new 'slant' when I return,
you'll keep coming back because so much to learn,
now I've got covid it gives some time to reminisce,
isolation of a star - I may be awoken with a soft kiss.
To find that, 'It's time to go on Mr. Terry,'
'go on,' what does that mean - not on the stage surely,
but yes, I'm expected to perform in front of so many,
I'm not nervous, arrogant, go out there when I'm ready.
I passed Robbie Williams in the corridor, we clasped hands,
how was it possible and then Mercury - I thought he was done, what reception would I have after those two, Bowie also gone,
my son worked for Ground Control - I called him Major Thom.
Anyway I swaggered forward,
this was all too good to miss,
but just as I swished a curtain aside, I was awoken with a kiss.
