A St.Patrick Day Poem

With Lady Luck eluding me, all of my life,Β
I gave in to boredom, worry, and strife.Β
Look over yonder, a quick change of fate?Β
A dazzling bright woman, OH WOW, does she rate.Β
Breaking the ice, near her I sit,Β
I put on my best side, my humor, my wit.Β
Gritting my teeth, I thought of a line,Β
I tried to say it, but it wasn't my time.Β
Foiled again, I went home to mope,Β
If soon I don't find courage, I may loose all hope.Β
Holding the phone with two sweaty grips,Β
I raised the mouthpiece to two quivering lips.Β
I dialed the number, she gave me, no doubt,Β
I now have to ask her, there was no backing out.Β
It turned out so nice, 'cause she gave me a clue.Β
I almost fell twice, but success I was due.Β
The luck of the Irish set this laddie apart.Β
With this lassie Dede, a lady of me own heart.Β
Stroke your rabbit's foot, cross, and moreover,Β
I'll rub on Dede, she's my four leaf clover.Β
