A Touch of Moonlight

Wherever the moonlight touches
Β

A meadow or oft tread dale,

Β

Little, grey rabbits and birds

Β

Each morning tell the tale

Β

Of how, during the long night,

Β

The land took on a softer shade,

Β

Even the humble mushrooms

Β

Seemed to shine within the glade;

Β

Silken-spun lacework of spider's webs

Β

Glistened with strands, dewy-pearled,

Β

And a faint, cool, bluish mist

Β

Around trees slowly swirled

Β

Just before the warm sunshine

Β

Chased the moonlight away.

Β

So, if you listen carefully

Β

You might hear those birds say

Β

Praiseworthy things to rabbits

Β

About what happened overnight,

Β

Excited at what resulted

Β

From the softest touch of moonlight.

Β
